These cowhides were once roaming and there will be natural marks, cuts (on the furside) and brandings, these are not considered a fault, they are considered "charm". Patches to us, are generally cuts or holes that have been made during the tanning process and 'patched' up, we again don't see it as a fault but we do take the time to ensure we discount those hides or if the patch is quite large we use it to make our stools and cushion covers avoiding the patched area.
